SUMMARY:Help my Ancestor has vanished!
DESCRIPTION:A talk by Simon Fowler.\nOne of the commonest problems faced by family historians is that ancestors suddenly vanish from the records often for no seeming reason. This thought-provoking presentation looks at why this might be so. \nIt discusses three main reasons: \n\nthe genealogist might have made a mistake in their research;\nthere is a problem with the records. Either the clerk made a mistake recording names or the records no longer exist;\nthe ancestor may have genuinely gone missing\, perhaps emigrating overseas or becoming a tramp. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share experiences.\n\nFor LWMFHS members only.\nMembership starts at £12.\nJoin Us – LWMFHS

SUMMARY:Beyond the 1939 Register
DESCRIPTION:A talk by Richard Holt.\nRichard looks at understanding the 1939 Register as part of a much wider set of records. The enumeration of 29th September 1939 is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to available records\, but knowing what exists and how to access information is an entirely different matter.  Discover how the registers were used by the Central National Registration Office and later by the NHS\, from 1939 until 1991. Learn about the existence of additional records\, the information that they contain\, and how they might help you with locating family members between 1939-1991. Also\, what information is contained in the redacted section of the 1939 Register? . \nFor LWMFHS members only.\nMembership starts at £12.\nJoin Us – LWMFHS
